Why should you care about PFOA’s and C8?

You lock your doors, tuck your children into bed and do everything you can to make sure they are safe. Then they ask you for a glass of water before they fall asleep. You give them a glass of tap water and kiss them good night. Meanwhile, the chemical companies are dumping PFOA's into the ground. The military bases are hosing down AFFF until it seeps into the ground. These chemicals degrade into C8 and make it into your water supply. They may be in that glass of water you just gave your child.

Horsham/Willow Brook, Pennsylvania

The Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Willow Grove or NASJRB Willow Grove (as most air bases) used/uses Aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) to fight jet fuel fires.  They also used it thousands more times in practice exercises.  It is well documented that AFFF seeps into the ground.  It degrades into PFOA (aka C8) and into water supplies long after the fire is out.  The Navy is spending $8.8 million on the contamination. The money covers the cost to remediate the wells closed by the Horsham Water and Sewer Authority and those of homeowners on private wells that exceed the provisional health advisory. Additionally, the money pays for additional water purchased from other authorities to meet the demands of township residents.

What the Navy and the primary manufacturers of AFFF have not answered is what happens to all of the people who died or became seriously ill because they consumed PFOA/C8 in their drinking water?
